Business Principles
The ECOS Business Principles are a set of principles and activities for the Sudanese Oil Industry. The principles are based on International Law, voluntary standards for business behavior and Sudan’s peace agreement, the CPA.
The Business Principles take into account the specific situation in Sudan and are drafted for the oil industry only. They consist of five normative priorities and propose thirteen activities.

Benchmarks for the Interim Period
In connection to the business principles, ECOS drafted the Benchmarks for the Interim Period. These count for the six-year period that follows the signing of the CPA, the so-called Interim Period. The benchmarks provide a framework with which companies can maximize the benefits of Sudan’s oil wealth, for both themselves and society. At the same time, these benchmarks can also serve as a measurement of oil companies’ commitment to peaceful and equitable development.
Lobby
ECOS compels oil companies to implement the principles and benchmarks and, together with people from Sudan, lobbies for their implementation.
